Job Description
Seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to develop and enhance the backend systems that support our core product offerings. The role involves building and executing on IYK’s overarching technical vision in alignment with our product roadmap, creating a secure, user-friendly, and scalable backend infrastructure, and working closely with IYK’s founders and frontend team to ensure seamless integration of backend systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop robust backend systems and enhancements to support our core product offerings, ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability to meet evolving business demands. This includes designing scalable architectures, optimizing database queries, and implementing efficient APIs to enhance user experience.
- Build out and execute on IYK’s overarching technical vision in alignment with our product roadmap, collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate strategic goals into actionable backend solutions. This requires proactive planning, prioritizing features based on business impact, and ensuring technical debt is managed effectively.
- Create a backend infrastructure that prioritizes security, usability, and scalability, implementing industry-standard security protocols (e.g., OAuth, encryption) and designing intuitive interfaces for system management. This involves conducting regular security audits, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations, and optimizing resource allocation for high-performance environments.
- Work closely with IYK’s founders and frontend team to ensure seamless integration of backend systems, facilitating communication between stakeholders and resolving technical challenges. This includes documenting APIs, providing technical guidance to frontend developers, and ensuring consistent data flow across platforms.
Job Requirements
- Proven experience in backend development, with a strong track record of building scalable and secure systems using technologies such as Node.js, Python, or Java. Demonstrated expertise in RESTful API design, microservices architecture, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) is essential.
- Advanced knowledge of databases (SQL/NoSQL) and data modeling techniques, including experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Redis. Ability to optimize database performance and ensure data integrity in distributed systems is required.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a deep understanding of system design principles, with experience in handling high-traffic applications and distributed systems. Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with founders, product managers, and frontend teams. Proficiency in agile methodologies and a commitment to delivering high-quality code with thorough testing and documentation are necessary.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in backend engineering, with a focus on full-stack development and system integration. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.
