Software Engineer at Talos

This role at Talos seeks a technically proficient Software Engineer with a strong foundation in backend development and a keen interest in trading systems. The candidate must be able to work collaboratively while demonstrating autonomy in managing tasks.

• Proficiency in a compiled language like Go, C++, or Java is essential.
• Prior internship experience in backend systems, especially in production environments, is required.
• Knowledge of relational databases (e.g., Postgres) and trading systems is a plus.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team are critical.
• Detail-oriented, self-driven, and analytical mindset is highly valued.

Talos, likely a fintech or trading-focused company, is looking for a Software Engineer to enhance their RFQ system, which integrates with Nasdaq and handles OTC workflows. The emphasis on Go and backend systems suggests a need for scalable, high-performance solutions in financial trading. The mention of institutional governance and seamless settlement indicates a focus on reliability and compliance. The employer values candidates who can iterate based on feedback and demonstrate progress, highlighting an agile and results-driven culture.

As an interviewer, I would prioritize candidates who can articulate their experience with backend systems and demonstrate problem-solving skills in a trading context. I would look for evidence of autonomy, such as past projects where the candidate took initiative, and assess their ability to communicate technical concepts clearly. A candidate with exposure to financial systems or relational databases would stand out. Cultural fit is also important—energetic, creative, and collaborative traits align with Talos's ambitious and welcoming culture.
