Job Description
The Senior QA Engineer plays a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and reliability of software products through comprehensive testing strategies and processes. This position involves leading QA initiatives within the team, selecting and implementing automation frameworks and tooling to optimize testing efficiency, and mentoring developers and testers in the effective use of these technologies. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams in game development to identify and prioritize test requirements, design test cases, and ensure alignment with project goals. Additionally, the Senior QA Engineer will support in resolving technical issues, maintain rigorous quality standards for customer projects, and adapt to evolving business needs. The candidate will also be responsible for decomposing complex problems into manageable components, creating and maintaining QA documentation in Confluence, and participating in agile ceremonies to enhance team productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and refine QA processes to ensure consistent quality delivery across all project phases.
- Design and implement automation frameworks, selecting appropriate tools to streamline testing workflows.
- Mentor developers and testers in best practices for using QA toolsets and writing maintainable test scripts.
- Collaborate with game development teams to translate design documents into actionable test requirements.
- Develop and execute automated tests in Python to validate functionality, performance, and user experience.
- Identify critical test cases and ensure comprehensive coverage for all features and edge scenarios.
- Participate in daily standups and agile ceremonies to provide real-time feedback and track progress.
- Document testing procedures, results, and issues in Confluence for team reference and knowledge sharing.
- Conduct root cause analysis for defects and work with stakeholders to resolve issues promptly.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging QA methodologies to continuously improve testing practices.
Job Requirements
- Proven experience as a QA Engineer with a minimum of 5 years in software testing, preferably in game development environments.
- Expertise in automation testing, with hands-on experience in Python scripting and test framework development (e.g., Selenium, PyTest).
- Strong understanding of agile methodologies and Scrum practices, with experience facilitating ceremonies such as sprint planning and retrospectives.
- Excellent analytical skills to break down complex systems and design robust test scenarios.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation and translate it into clear, actionable test cases.
- Proficiency in using Confluence for documentation management and collaboration.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively convey test results, issues, and recommendations to cross-functional teams.
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying potential quality risks.
- Experience with game development tools and technologies (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine, version control systems).
- Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and prioritize testing efforts accordingly.
