Job Description
Responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating market risks associated with the Trading Desk operations, including but not limited to liquidity management, volatility analysis, and counterparty risk evaluation. This role involves managing external trading relationships to gather market intelligence from OTC desks, Market Makers, Custodians, Exchanges, and Stablecoin Issuers. Collaborate with the Ripple Markets team to monitor and derive actionable insights from external crypto liquidity sources. Design and implement automated processes to evaluate and report compliance with trading guidelines, ensuring consistent risk management practices. Enhance the team's capability to access and leverage microstructure data for informed decision-making. Coordinate internal and external engineering resources to achieve broader trading objectives, including the development and deployment of proof-of-concept solutions. Monitor systematic execution of trades, positions, and P&L to ensure alignment with risk parameters. Conduct post-trade analysis of trading strategies and algorithm performance to identify optimization opportunities and improve operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead market risk management initiatives for the Trading Desk, proactively identifying potential risks and implementing mitigation strategies across liquidity, volatility, and counterparty domains.
- Establish and maintain relationships with external trading partners such as OTC desks, Market Makers, Custodians, Exchanges, and Stablecoin Issuers to gather real-time market intelligence and competitive insights.
- Support the Ripple Markets team in monitoring crypto liquidity dynamics, analyzing market trends, and translating data into strategic recommendations for trading decisions.
- Develop and optimize automated workflows for risk assessment, ensuring accurate and timely reporting to trading guidelines while maintaining data integrity and regulatory compliance.
- Enhance the team's analytical capabilities by integrating microstructure data into decision-making processes, enabling deeper market understanding and improved execution strategies.
- Act as a quarterback for cross-functional engineering teams, coordinating resources to deliver innovative solutions that align with the market's strategic goals.
- Oversee the systematic execution of trades, positions, and P&L metrics, ensuring adherence to risk thresholds and operational protocols.
- Perform comprehensive post-trade analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of trading strategies, algorithm performance, and market conditions, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Job Requirements
- Proven experience in market risk management within financial services or cryptocurrency trading environments, with a strong track record of mitigating risks through analytical frameworks and operational controls.
- Advanced understanding of trading ecosystems, including OTC markets, market makers, custodians, and exchanges, with demonstrated ability to source and synthesize market intelligence effectively.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and methodologies, capable of processing and interpreting large datasets to inform trading strategies and risk management decisions.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and external partners, ensuring alignment on risk parameters and strategic objectives.
- Ability to design and implement automated systems for risk assessment and reporting, with technical expertise in programming languages and data integration platforms.
