Job Description
The QA Game Tester in South America plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and stability of our gaming products. This position is responsible for conducting comprehensive testing activities across various stages of game development, including functional, balance, stability, performance, and compatibility testing. The tester will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and document issues, ensuring that all bugs and defects are accurately captured and prioritized for resolution. Additionally, this role involves executing detailed test plans, creating and maintaining test cases for new features and systems, and verifying that fixes address reported issues effectively. The QA Game Tester will also be tasked with investigating and reproducing complex bugs, providing clear steps and insights to facilitate troubleshooting. Collaboration with the production team is essential to ensure timely delivery of high-quality game releases.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough testing of game features, mechanics, and systems to ensure they meet quality standards and user expectations.
- Identify, document, and prioritize bugs, defects, and performance issues using standardized reporting tools and methodologies.
- Execute test plans with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring comprehensive coverage of all game functionalities and edge cases.
- Create and maintain detailed test cases for new features, updates, and system integrations to support efficient testing processes.
- Investigate and reproduce complex, hard-to-find issues, providing clear step-by-step documentation for developers to resolve them.
- Perform regression testing on fixed issues to ensure that previous functionality remains unaffected by new changes.
- Collaborate with QA team members to share findings, discuss test strategies, and contribute to continuous improvement of testing protocols.
- Communicate effectively with developers, designers, and other stakeholders to provide actionable feedback and clarify requirements.
- Participate in bug triage meetings to assess severity, impact, and urgency of reported issues.
- Stay updated on industry trends, testing tools, and game development best practices to enhance testing efficiency and effectiveness.
Job Requirements
- Proven experience in game testing, preferably within the gaming industry or related fields, with a focus on quality assurance processes.
- Strong understanding of functional, balance, stability, and performance testing methodologies and their applications in game development.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify root causes of issues and provide accurate documentation.
- Proficiency in using testing tools and bug tracking systems (e.g., Jira, TestRail) to manage test cases and report defects.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong communication skills to collaborate across departments.
- Fluency in English, with additional language skills (e.g., Spanish) preferred to facilitate communication with local teams and stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality game releases through rigorous testing.
- Knowledge of game development lifecycle and QA best practices to ensure alignment with project goals.
- Experience with cross-platform testing (PC, consoles, mobile) to ensure consistent performance across all target systems.
- Ability to adapt to fast-paced environments and handle multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
