Job Description
The Head of Data Analytics is responsible for leading the development and maintenance of Orbital's business intelligence platform, including Metabase and other analytics tools. This role ensures secure user access, data integrity, and quality across all analytical systems. The individual will design and implement comprehensive metrics and reporting frameworks to monitor data quality, identify issues, and drive continuous improvement. They will also oversee the integration of a modern tech stack for database analysis and querying, while establishing enterprise data infrastructure requirements and coordinating with the Data Infrastructure team to build robust data import/replication processes. Additionally, this role involves building and managing a high-performing analytics team to extract actionable insights from Orbital's data, supporting strategic decision-making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the implementation and optimization of business intelligence platforms (e.g., Metabase) and other analytical tools to ensure seamless user access and data quality.
  • Develop and maintain metrics, dashboards, and reports that align with business objectives, enabling data-driven insights for operational and strategic improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design a scalable, modern tech stack for database analysis, querying, and integration with enterprise systems.
  • Establish and enforce data quality standards for Orbital's enterprise infrastructure, ensuring reliable data import/replication workflows.
  • Build and manage a team of Data Analysts to transform raw data into actionable insights, supporting management decision-making and business priorities.
  • Oversee agile delivery processes for the analytics team, implementing systems and protocols to enhance productivity and delivery efficiency.
  • Provide leadership in upskilling team members on technical expertise, data analysis methodologies, and Orbital's product domain knowledge.
  • Design and deploy an operational framework (e.g., business partner model) to allocate analytics resources effectively across departments.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to leverage data for sales growth, revenue optimization, cost reduction, and product performance enhancement.
  • Communicate key insights to senior management and stakeholders to support data-led decision-making at all levels.
  • Work closely with business units to create production-grade reporting solutions that meet specific data analysis needs.
  • Develop data visualisation tools and dashboards to present insights in a clear, actionable format for business priorities.
  • Research and implement innovative data analysis techniques to unlock hidden value within Orbital's datasets.
  • Ensure alignment between analytics initiatives and organizational goals, fostering a culture of data-driven innovation.
  • Collaborate with IT and data engineering teams to maintain system reliability and scalability for analytics operations.
Job Requirements
  • Proven experience in leading data analytics teams and managing BI platforms (e.g., Metabase, Tableau, Power BI).
  • Strong technical background in data analysis, database management, and enterprise data infrastructure design.
  • Expertise in developing data quality frameworks, data governance policies, and data integration strategies.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into actionable analytics solutions and reporting tools.
  • Excellent communication skills to present complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders and senior management.
  • Leadership capabilities to mentor, upskill, and manage a team of analysts in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of agile methodologies and DevOps practices for efficient analytics delivery and system maintenance.
