Job Description
OP Ventures Fund I is a $50mm+ venture fund dedicated to supporting early stage (pre-seed and seed) projects across the Web 3.0 space, including DeFi, Metaverse/GameFi, DAOs, and infrastructure layers. We’re backed by top tier institutional players such as Huobi, Bybit, Galaxy Vision Hill, Digital Currency Group, and Republic, in addition to many notable crypto-native angels. The team has extensive experience in the crypto space as both investors and power users. OP Crypto has also launched OP FOF I to make strategic investments in emerging venture fund managers with specialized vertical or geographical expertise. OP FOF I is backed by Ledgerprime and Mirana and is the first crypto venture fund of funds exclusively focused on investing in emerging managers on a global-scale. This role will involve working closely with the investment team to identify, evaluate, and manage high-potential opportunities in the rapidly evolving Web 3.0 ecosystem. The position will also require collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with the fund’s strategic goals and risk management framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and evaluate high-potential early-stage projects in Web 3.0 domains such as DeFi, Metaverse/GameFi, DAOs, and blockchain infrastructure layers.
- Conduct comprehensive due diligence on startups and fund managers, analyzing market trends, technological feasibility, and team capabilities.
- Collaborate with the investment team to structure deals, negotiate terms, and manage the fund’s portfolio across multiple stages of development.
- Engage with founders, industry experts, and institutional partners to build strategic relationships and foster innovation in the crypto ecosystem.
- Monitor portfolio company performance, provide ongoing support, and ensure alignment with the fund’s long-term vision and risk management framework.
- Contribute to the development of OP FOF I by assessing emerging fund managers with niche expertise in specific verticals or geographic regions.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes, technological advancements, and macroeconomic factors impacting the Web 3.0 industry.
- Prepare detailed investment reports, presentations, and pitch decks for internal review and external stakeholders.
Job Requirements
- Proven experience in venture capital, private equity, or crypto investment management, preferably with a focus on early-stage funding.
- Deep understanding of Web 3.0 technologies, including blockchain protocols, smart contracts, decentralized applications, and NFT ecosystems.
- Strong analytical skills to assess business models, financial projections, and market potential of startups and fund managers.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities to interact with founders, investors, and legal teams during deal execution.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with high ambiguity.
- Fluency in English, with additional language skills preferred for global deal sourcing and cross-border collaboration.
- Minimum of 3 years in the crypto industry, with experience in both investment and operational roles.
- Knowledge of venture capital fund structures, including seed funding mechanisms, limited partnerships, and fund-of-funds strategies.
- Strong network within the crypto community, including access to founders, angel investors, and institutional players in the Web 3.0 space.
- Ability to conduct financial modeling, risk assessment, and valuation analysis for early-stage ventures and fund managers.
- Experience with blockchain-based investment tools, such as smart contract platforms and decentralized finance protocols, is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple deals simultaneously while maintaining strict compliance standards.
- Passion for innovation and a track record of supporting disruptive technologies in the crypto and Web 3.0 sectors.
- Ability to adapt to rapid market changes and maintain a long-term perspective on investment outcomes.
- Preferred: Background in blockchain development, product management, or crypto consulting to enhance technical evaluation capabilities.
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, computer science, or a related field. Advanced degrees such as an MBA or Master’s in Finance are highly desirable. Demonstrated success in managing early-stage investments with a focus on Web 3.0 technologies is required. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to thrive in high-pressure environments. Experience with blockchain ecosystems, including DeFi protocols, DAO governance models, and NFT platforms, is mandatory. A solid understanding of venture capital operations, including fund structuring, term sheets, and exit strategies, is necessary. Excellent communication skills are critical for presenting investment rationale to stakeholders and collaborating with cross-functional teams. A proven track record of building and maintaining relationships with founders, angel investors, and institutional players in the crypto space is mandatory. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in fund-of-funds strategies or managing multi-geography investment portfolios. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a deep commitment to the principles of decentralization and innovation within the Web 3.0 industry.
